Festival Listings

This new section compiles listings and tables that offer an overview of certain festival groups.  A large portion of the entires stem from the very useful resource section of the last volumes of the Film Festival Yearbook (2010, 2011, 2012).  Dina Iordanova and her fellow researchers at St. Andrews have started to provide tables and listings of festivals in order to provide a starting point for the groundwork that is very useful and necessary, yet oftentimes unavailable for festival researchers.  The listings reflect specific research foci – for instance when tables are presented that list festivals promoting ‘imagined’ regional or supranational identities, diasporic festivals or festivals that largely further cultural diplomacy (cf. Iordanova 2010: 259-265).  The tables in the third volume of the Film Festival Yearbook: Film Festivals and East Asia provide groundwork on the research on East Asian film festivals (cf. Iordanova/Cheung 2011).  The tables of the fourth volume reflect on activist film festivals (Iordanova/Torchin 2012).
